Description

::imaginative introspection::

Imagine that all life is an illusion. All that exists is this moment. No past, no future, each memory, every plan, a part of the illusion. Life, in a photograph.

Do you like the image of yourself?

Elisesofia’s Vengence

love escapes from her veins
warm and flowing as her face pales in the darkness.
her breath shallow she gives her life to regain his.
he lies unknowing in the dark.
body wrought with scars.
he screamed for days
and just as his voice ran out she gave him breath again.
he.
     wakes.
                slowly.
                            rising.
                                      breath.
                                                 stolen.
by the sight of her,
limp and cold now before him, his child in her arms.
The Gods tremble at his rage
and his purpose is realized
as he cradles the infant she gave him.

  1. Hi Klaire,

I noticed yesterday that you'd found your way through to my blog and I thought I'd drop by and say hello... I like this blog a lot... great atmosphere...

I'm interested by this poem as well... quite terse and tough... sad and yet lovely...

Not knowing what to make exactly of the title, I went and searched for Elisesofia to see if this was a historical personage or if I could deign something of the significance of this name... if you google it you'll find a number of interesting things...

I know it's not a good practice to ask poets to explain their work, but what can you tell me about this name, and why "vengeance" when it sounds to me a bit like sacrifice?

Again, thanks for reading my blog... and it's nice to make your acquaintance...

  2. I don't mind explaining here-- In the poem Elisesofia is the infant, but it's a name I've used regularly in my writing and my life. I've got a whole series of poems focusing around that character. Also, the misspelling of "vengence" is relevant on a personal level, and it's place in the title ties in to the other stories around the character. I haven't decided if I want to share those poems quite yet.

    Thanks for reading!
